We are an Incorporated Charitable Organisation registered with the UK Charity Commission and governed by six Trustees. All these are serving or recently-retired senior UK public servants with a career-long in-depth knowledge of education at national, regional and local/institutional levels in the UK and elsewhere.

Three are current or former Director-level staff of the UK Department for Education: Michael Stark, David Hawker and Peter Lauener. Others are serving senior civil servants from the Cabinet Office/FCO (Hermione Gough); a former Director of the Association of Directors of Children’s Service (Rosalind Turner); and a top adviser and manager in further and adult education (Andrew Thomson) .

Our Trustees have extensive overseas experience.  Two are past or current British diplomats; one has enormous experience advising foreign governments on implementing system reforms.  They are all well used to adapting their experience gained mostly in developed countries, to the actual circumstances of countries with far fewer resources.

All our Trustees work on a voluntary and unpaid basis.  On the contrary many donate to the charity.  Trustees recover few (if any) of the expenses they personally incur in doing the charity’s work.
