For me, Educators International represents an exciting way of supporting international education development, alongside a team with many years experience at the top, giving their time and expertise for free.
I trained as a languages teacher in the early 1970s and taught for several years in secondary schools in England before moving into educational management. Over the past 35 years my career has spanned the commercial, voluntary and public sectors, with director level posts in both local and central government. I led the development of the national pupil assessment system in England and Wales from 1992-1999, and then moved into local government as Director of Education for two local authorities in England before becoming Director General for the Welsh Government in 2008. I retired from the civil service in 2011 to set up my own international educational consultancy, undertaking projects for national governments, research agencies and international NGOs. I now concentrate my efforts on a range of unpaid non-executive roles, including chairing Educators International.
