I support EI because it makes a difference by working with local partners to design practical education programmes that work.
I have spent the majority of my career in the Department for Education, including 8 years as Chief Executive of its funding agency, responsible for disbursing some £60 billion per annum, putting in place systems and demonstrating value for money. During this time, I was a Board member of the Department and I am now a non-executive board member of organisations working in the education and skills system, both public agencies and not for profit organisations.
In my career in the Department for Education, I have seen programmes that have made a major difference to the lives of children and young people in England.
