Simon Nishi McCorkindale BSc BA

I had the privilege of joining the EI team back in 2014 thanks to an introduction to Michael Stark through a mutual acquaintance who knew that my passion for education and experience as an app developer would be a good match to help them realise their goals of having the PhonicsbyPhone programme turned into an app for printing and recording assessments. Since then, I am very proud to have seen our efforts used in 11 developing countries to facilitate several hundred teachers in helping improve English literacy and numeracy for 30,000+ students.

Originally hailing from New Zealand, I have a BSc in Computer Science and BA in Japanese. I’ve spent the past 20 years living and working in various parts of Asia, primarily Japan. I have co-founded 3 startups; FUNX being the digital education company that led to the introduction to EI. For the past 10 years I have specialized in the apps and games industry working a variety of roles as software engineer and manager. I look forward to the continued growth of EI's initiatives and seeing even more how I can help contribute to bettering the education for children all over the world.
